In India superbike sales increase from past few months, due to this number of multinational two-wheeler manufacturers like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki Motor Corp., Ducati are focusing on this segment and ordering more CBU (Completely Built Unit) units from their parent company. This is simply because the superbike sales in India have far exceeded their expectations. India has the growing market of superbike segment with the rising popularity of biking culture throughout the country.
According to sources, Suzuki has sold 26 units of Hayabusa and 29 units of Intruder (both of them priced at Rs 12.5 lakh) since its launch in November 2008. Yamaha also sold 107 units of its superbike Yamaha R1 and Yamaha MTO1 (both of them priced at Rs 10.5 lakh) in 2008 as against the target that was set for 50-60 bikes. So that for year 2009 Yamaha is expecting for 100% growth in sales of Yamaha R1 and Yamaha MT 01 at 107 units.
Even Honda, which has recently launched its superbike, Honda CBR 1000RR and Honda CB1000 on February 27th, 2009, is also betting big for this segment. Honda will sell these superbike - Honda CBR 1000RR and Honda CB1000R through its exclusive stores in four metros - Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Calcutta. Honda CBR1000RR is priced at Rs. 12.5 lakh (ex showroom) and the CB1000R is priced at Rs. 9.5 lakh (ex showroom).
