Honda to invest Rs 300 crore in next three years

Scooter India, (HMSI), which is the 100% subsidiary of Honda Motor Corporation, Japan, said last day that they planned to invest Rs 300 crore for its expansion plans in India over the next three years.

The new investment plan of Honda would also include the upgradation of its manufacturing plant capacity in Manesar, HMSI General Manager-Operating Head (Sales and Marketing) Naresh Kumar Rattan told.

"Honda, which has invested around Rs 900 crore since its first production plant was launched in year 2001, will now plan for further invest around Rs 300 crore as its expansion plans and to launch a new bikes and scooters in the future," he added, speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Honda's upgraded scooter Honda Activa Deluxe.

He said that currently its manufacturing plant has a capacity of around 10 lakh units, that would be increased to 14 lakh units by the next six to eight months. "By the end of this financial year, its production plant will have a increased capacity of 15 lakh units", Rattan said. The company also plans to enter the 100cc bike segment this year and to launch new bikes in next three years, he added.
