In Indian two-wheeler market bike sales up in March. Two wheeler manufacturer recorded increased sales figure for the month of March. Hero Honda, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacture posted that its bike sales up in March with double digit growth of 10% with 3,53,342 units in March 2009 over the same month of last year with 3,20,594 units.
Hero Honda MD & CEO Pawan Munjal said that its bike sales up in March due to strong demand in semi-urban and rural markets. "We have achieved our target by capturing 57% market share in the domestic bike market, despite the industry witnessing significant slowdown in sales and prevailing high interest rates in India.
The various measure to expand our bike portfolio as well increase in our dealer network contributed to growth in bike sales in the past fiscal year," Mr Munjal added.
TVS Motor Company also reported that its bike sales up in March with a 4% growth with 1,21,988 units of bikes in March this year over the 1,17,045 units in the same month of last year. The growth in bike sales came from the rising demand for bikes, which has recorded around 44% with 22,975 units in March over the 15,942 units in the same month of last year.
